During times of low humidity, dry vegetation and high winds, Southern California Edison may use Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) to proactively and temporarily shut off power to keep communities safe and reduce the risk of a fire caused by utility equipment. (SCE was authorized to implement PSPSs by the California Public Utilities Commission in 2018.) Due to the risk of extreme weather facing Southern California, residents may experience longer and more extensive PSPS outages, including in areas that historically have not experienced PSPS.
To help community members stay informed and prepared for Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS), Southern California Edison will host a live discussion for the Las Virgenes and Malibu communities on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM with the option to join a virtual livestream. There will be an opportunity for questions and feedback.
