WASHINGTON, DC - Makinizi Hoover, Senior Director for Housing Policy at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, issued the following statement today after the House passed the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act:
"The U.S. Chamber commends Senate Banking and House Financial Services committee leaders as well as Congressional leadership in both the House and Senate for passing one of the most significant housing packages in decades. This bipartisan achievement is an important step toward addressing the nation's housing supply challenge.
"The 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act will help increase housing production by directing targeted resources to states and localities, advancing permitting reform, modernizing federal building standards, and encouraging new investment and construction.
"By increasing supply and reducing barriers to building, this law will support workforce mobility, strengthen local economies, and expand access to housing for more American families."
###
Last week, the Chamber sent a letter to U.S. Senators and Representatives urging swift passage of the amended 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act and its prompt delivery to the President for signature.
