Dolly Parton Said Her 'Cup Of Ambition' Coffee Was A Dream 'For Over 40 Years'

Dolly Parton 's coffee brand is available nationwide in celebration of National Coffee Day on Tuesday (September 29).

Parton announced in June that Cup of Ambition, inspired by a lyric in one of her most iconic anthems of all time, would make its initial debut at her "first-of-its-kind" travel stop in Cornersville, Tennessee, south of Nashville. Now, the collection is available online with light, medium and dark roasts. Parton team dup with family-owned Community Coffee to bring a decades-long dream to life.

"I thought the Cup of Ambition would be a fantastic name for a coffee brand, and I've been working towards this for over 40 years," Parton said in June when she celebrated the opening of Dolly's Tennessean Travel Stop. "This is just one of those dreams that's taken a little longer than I thought it might, but we've got it and it's working. I can't wait for you to try it. But I couldn't be more happy with it. Community Coffee has been a fantastic partner for me and I like the way they think.

"I've spent a lifetime workin' 9 to 5, 5 to 9, and every hour in between! It takes a lot of energy to pursue your passion and navigate each day. That's why I wanted to make a coffee that works just as hard. You know, I begin each morning with a head full of dreams, a notepad full of ideas, and a cup or two of coffee," Parton said in a press release issued in June. "Whether you're chasing dreams, tackling that to-do list, or just enjoying a quiet morning at home, I hope it brings a smile with every sip."

Cup of Ambition was "created to capture the warmth, energy, and Southern hospitality Dolly is known for," according to a June press release. a release issued on Tuesday morning spotlights "Dolly's love of coffee and unmistakable spirit."

"Dolly had a warmth that made you feel like you'd known her forever," Donna Saurage, third-generation owner of Community Coffee, said in a statement. "We connected over our love of family, serving our communities and bringing people together, and it was a true joy to help make her dream of a Cup of Ambition coffee become a reality."

Parton's Cup of Ambition was one of many active projects she was working on at the time of her death. Parton "died peacefully" on August 25 in Nashville, Tennessee, according to an official announcement. She was 80. Her representatives confirmed hours later in a statement to PEOPLE, "after bravely facing a brief battle with cancer, Dolly departed her Earthly life today at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center surrounded by loved ones." Parton was laid to rest beside her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, who died in March 2025. He was 82.

Parton's team shared updates on her active projects at the time of her death, including her Life of Many Colors Museum and SongTeller Hotel in Nashville, both of which opened on Tuesday along with Cup of Ambition's new release.
