Promotion for Kim Gougenheim

If you've searched NYT Cooking in need of a weeknight dinner inspiration and been lured in by the visuals of Thai-Inspired Chicken Meatball Soup or Lemon Butter Salmon with Dill, you've benefitted from Kim Gougenheim's work. She is the reason that expertly tested recipes from our reporters and developers are paired with a talented food stylist and photographer team, ensuring the dish is beautifully cooked and plated, then lit and well framed. This process has resulted in thousands of stunning recipe visuals that appear on our app, in our Thanksgiving and holiday features and in our special tabloid sections and pano 8's.

Kim joined us eight years ago when the NYT Cooking app was just shy of 4 years old. Ever since then, she has worked tirelessly, and her influence on the cooking and food report is outsized.

In this expanded role of senior photo editor, Kim will work closely with Cooking and Food desk leadership to continue to shape and define our photographic identity ensuring that visuals are a well considered part of the desk's growth and development plan. She will work in collaboration with the desk's social team to ensure those high quality visuals are optimized for the various platforms and surfaces driving audience reach and delivering impact.

Kim will also develop her leadership skills mentoring the team of photo editors on the desk - Allison Chin and Gabriel Sanchez - supervising their work and respective workflows, championing the desk's approach to visual formats, driving regular and ambitious visual enterprise aligned with the desk's editorial goals.

Please join us in congratulating Kim on her well-deserved promotion.
