Ontario Names Advanced Wood Construction Working Group

The Ontario government has established a dedicated group of experts to guide the implementation of the Advanced Wood Construction Action Plan: Ontario's blueprint for education, research and investment in the fast-growing sector of prefabricated and modular wood-based building materials. The action plan was launched earlier this year to support the government's plan to protect Ontario by increasing demand in the forestry, manufacturing and construction sectors.

The group includes:

  • Steven Street, Executive Director, WoodWorks Ontario
  • Robert J. Jonkman, P.Eng., Vice-President, Codes and Engineering, Canadian Wood Council
  • Ian Dunn, R.P.F., President & CEO, Ontario Forest Industries Association
  • Adam Bridgman, Director of Training, College of Carpenters and Allied Trades
  • Kirstin Jensen, Vice-President, Policy, Advocacy and Relationships, Ontario Home Builders' Association
  • Scott Jackson, CEO, Centre for Research and Innovation in the Bio-Economy (CRIBE)
  • Kate Lindsay, Senior Vice-President & Chief Sustainability Officer, Forest Products Association of Canada
  • Shaun Cameron, Program and Policy Advisor, Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs
  • Donald Chong, Design Principal and Associate Vice-President, HDR
  • Paul De Berardis, M.Eng., P.Eng., Director, Building Science & Innovation, RESCON
  • Jack Keays, MSc, Fire Safety Eng., P.Eng., Principal, Vortex Fire
  • Robert Kok, P.Eng., Owner/Senior Engineer, RCK Engineering Solutions
  • Lawrence Wagner, CEO, Ontario Building Officials Association
  • Tim Caldecott, Senior Director, Sustainable Construction, Carbon and Market Economics, FPInnovations
  • Finn Johnson, Director, Government Relations, Carpenters Regional Council
  • Nathan Hill, Infrastructure Supervisor, Ontario First Nations Technical Services Corporation
  • Ed DeBiasio, Chair, Ontario Structural Wood Association
  • Jonathan Gregg, Director of Strategic Initiatives, Independent First Nations Alliance

Establishing this working group is the government's latest action to build a stronger, more resilient forest sector, delivering on commitments to workers, businesses and communities outlined in Sustainable Growth: Ontario's Forest Sector Strategyand the Forest Biomass Action Plan.
