Sanders Signs Proclamation Encouraging Arkansas Students to Initiate a Turning Point USA Chapter in Their Schools

TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS COME - GREETINGS:

A PROCLAMATION ENCOURAGING ARKANSAS STUDENTS TO INITIATE A TURNING POINT USA CHAPTER IN THEIR SCHOOLS

WHEREAS: The First Amendment of the United States Constitution robustly protects the right to speak without government interference, but not to compel others to adopt, affirm, or adhere to specific beliefs;

WHEREAS: The Fourteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution provides that no state shall deny to any person the equal protection of the law;

WHEREAS: Arkansas ACCESS seeks to prevent discrimination in higher education; to promote the intellectual development of students and faculty in Arkansas; and to protect the free exchange of ideas according to the United States Constitution and the Arkansas Constitution;

WHEREAS: The State of Arkansas has an interest in ensuring that all state agencies safeguard constitutional rights, including the freedoms of speech, association, and religion;

WHEREAS: The State of Arkansas has an interest in students becoming active leaders in their communities;

WHEREAS: The State of Arkansas desires to foster civil discourse and provide students with opportunities for open dialogue;

WHEREAS: The State of Arkansas has an interest in students understanding their constitutional rights and the voting process that makes this the greatest country in the world;

WHEREAS: Turning Point USA encourages students to deepen their commitments to universal truths and enduring American values;

WHEREAS: Turning Point USA has made it possible for any student to start a Club America high school or Turning Point USA college chapter;

WHEREAS: Turning Point USA provides members with high-quality educational materials and national networking events;

WHEREAS: Any student whether enrolled in a public school, private school, homeschool, or college can lead or participate in a chapter of Turning Point USA.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, acting under the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of Arkansas, do hereby:

  • Encourage students in every Arkansas high school and college to engage in civil discourse and open dialogue by starting a Turning Point USA chapter.
  • Encourage all high schools and colleges to accept students' reasonable participation in clubs or political or religious speech.
  • Discourage public schools from discriminating against free speech in violation of the Free Speech Clause and Equal Access Act, especially conservative students' right to free speech, as has occurred in other states.

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of Arkansas to be affixed on this 11th day of March, in the year of our Lord 2026.
