ICYMI: On Telemundo Arizona, Kelly Talks About the Importance of Men Becoming Educators and Mentors

In case you missed it, Arizona Senator Mark Kelly joined Telemundo Arizona to talk about why more men should step up to become teachers and mentors-reflecting on the male teachers who shaped his own life and calling on men across Arizona to serve their communities by mentoring young men and boys.

Kelly highlighted his recently introduced two-bill package-the Educators for America Act and the Building Community in America Act-to expand pathways for Americans to serve as teachers, mentors, and volunteers, with a focus on increasing the number of participating men.

Also interviewed was Usiel Barrios, Director of Strategic Development at Amistades, Inc., who spoke on the impact Kelly's legislation will have on young men in Tucson: "Community service is everything. For us men in Tucson, being committed to our community sends a message to other men in our community… At the end of the day, it's important for young men to see themselves reflected in these jobs that serve their community."

Kelly closed with a call to service for men looking to make a difference in their communities: "You can serve your community by helping other people, in this case, helping younger men and boys, be successful."
