Board of County Commissioners' Schedule for November 3 - 7

MONDAY, November 3
There are no public meetings scheduled for this day.

TUESDAY, November 4
8:30 a.m. - Executive Session
Pursuant to Colorado Revised Statute § 24-6-402 (4), upon the affirmative vote of two-thirds of the quorum present, the La Plata County Board of County Commissioners will hold an executive session to discuss the following matters:

  1. For purposes of the Board receiving legal advice on specific legal questions pursuant to Colo. Rev. Stat § 24-6-402 (4)(b). Purpose: Permissible use of lodger's tax funds; Colorado Local Budget Law requirements.
  2. Determining positions relative to matters that may be subject to negotiations; developing strategy for negotiations; and instructing negotiators pursuant to Colo. Rev. Stat § 24-6-402 (4)(e). Purpose: Potential agreement with Town of Bayfield regarding Cinnamon Heights Project; Negotiations with public service agencies funded by La Plata County, including but not limited to the Humane Society of La Plata County.

3:30 p.m. - Special Business Agenda Meeting
The Board will consider:

  1. Approval of Resolution 2025-24 establishing the office closure schedule for La Plata County Departments and Offices in 2026.
  2. Ratification of a statement from the Board of County Commissioners about the events that occurred on October 27 and 28 outside the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office in Durango and the demonstrations that followed.
  3. Approval of County Manager recruitment timeline and job description.
  4. Consideration of Resolution No. R-2025-23 activating the Disaster Re-Building Program for the 2025 Vallecito Flood.
  5. Consideration of direction to staff to establish a flood debris staging area for property owners affected by the North Vallecito floods.

6:00 p.m. - Vallecito Community Meeting - Long Term Flood Recovery
Commissioner Porter-Norton will attend a meeting for community members on the long term recovery of the North Vallecito flooding. The meeting will be located at the Weminuche Woodfire Grill, 18044 County Road 501, with the virtual option on Zoom.

THURSDAY, November 6
11:30 a.m. - Counties and Commissioners Acting Together (CCAT) and Colorado Communities for Climate Action (CC4CA) Joint Strategic Growth Report Briefing
The Board will attend a joint virtual briefing with CC4CA to provide members with a deeper understanding of the final Colorado Strategic Growth Report and draft Policy Recommendations recently released by the Department of Local Affairs (DOLA).

3:30 p.m. - Regional Board of County Commissioners Meeting
The Board will host a joint meeting with Commissioners from Archuleta, Montezuma, San Miguel, San Juan, La Plata and Dolores Counties to discuss county updates and issues of mutual concern.

FRIDAY, November 7
9:00 a.m. - Non-Session CCI Steering Committee Meeting
The Board will attend the Colorado Counties, Inc. (CCI) virtual Non-Session Steering Committee Meeting.

10:00 a.m. - Counties and Commissioners Acting Together (CCAT) Weekly Member Check-In
Members of the Board will attend the virtual CCAT weekly member check-in.
