UToledo Earns National Recognition for 2026 Civic Engagement Plan

The University of Toledo has earned the 2026 Highly Established Action Plan Seal from the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge in recognition of its efforts to encourage nonpartisan civic and democratic engagement.

UToledo received 29 out of 32 possible points for its 2026 democratic engagement action plan, exceeding the 28-point threshold required to earn the national recognition.

The action plans are evaluated using the Strengthening American Democracy Action Planning Guide Rubric, which assesses how colleges and universities develop comprehensive strategies to increase nonpartisan student civic learning, political engagement and voter participation.

UToledo is one of 233 colleges and universities nationwide to earn the Highly Established Action Plan Seal so far for the 2026 election cycle.

"The Office of Student Engagement and Connections has been working with the ALL IN Democracy Challenge since the 2020 election cycle, and this is our first time receiving this honor," said Becca Wait, program manager for Leadership and Civic Engagement.

"We're always striving to provide improved support for students who want to learn more about voting. Our plans for this fall include nonpartisan programs aimed at helping students register to vote, learn more about what's on their ballots, host their own voter education events and get to the polls to participate in democracy."

The recognition reflects the University's ongoing commitment to providing students with opportunities and resources to participate in the democratic process while fostering an informed and civically engaged campus community.

The ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge works with colleges and universities across the country to improve nonpartisan civic learning, political engagement and voter participation among college students.
