SCO Secretary-General Takes Part in the CIS International Economic Forum
The Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Nurlan Yermekbayev, took part in the International Economic Forum of the CIS Member States (IEF), which took place on April 3, 2026, in Moscow.
The event, held under the motto "35 Years of the CIS. Development of the Greater Eurasian Partnership," brought together 2,000 participants from 15 countries, including heads of departments responsible for economic development, finance, industry, and trade; representatives of the expert community, industry associations, and banking institutions; as well as heads of executive bodies of international organizations.

Nurlan Yermekbayev spoke at the IEF plenary session, which was opened by the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Sergey Lebedev. The SCO Secretary-General noted that the CIS has established itself as a reputable platform for strengthening economic, humanitarian, and cultural ties. He emphasized that the SCO views the development of cooperation with the Commonwealth as a factor contributing to the strengthening of economic ties, the expansion of trade, the improvement of transport infrastructure, and the deepening of technological cooperation across Eurasia.

Nurlan Yermekbayev outlined the trade and economic direction of the SCO's activities. In particular, he noted that the Organization has developed an extensive system of intergovernmental mechanisms for economic cooperation, which facilitates the promotion of mutually beneficial collaboration in key sectors of the economy.
