Royal Oak man arraigned on charges related to death of woman on motorcycle

Mount Clemens, Mich. - Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that 64-year-old Edward Michael Nahhat, of Royal Oak, Michigan was arraigned on charges related to the death of a motorcycle rider.

It is alleged that on Sunday, August 23, 2026, 48-year-old Julie Fathbruckner, of Roseville, Michigan, was riding a 2005 Harley Davison motorcycle southbound on Utica Road near Mulvey Road in Fraser, Michigan when she was involved in a collision with a 2024 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Nahhat. It is further alleged that Nahhat fled the scene following the collision.

Emergency medical aid was provided to Ms. Fathbruckner, who was transported to McLaren Macomb, where she was pronounced deceased.

Through diligent police work, authorities were able to identify and locate Nahhat. It is further alleged that, during the investigation, Nahhat provided authorities with false or misleading information when speaking to authorities investigating the collision.

On Wednesday, August 26, 2026, Nahhat was arraigned on the following charges before Judge Joseph F. Boedeker of the 39th District Court in Roseville:

• Failure to Stop at the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Serious Impairment or Death, a 5-year felony
• Lying to a Police Officer - 4 Year or More Crime Investigation, a 2-year felony

Nahhat also is charged with Commission of a Felony with a Motor Vehicle, which carries Secretary of State driver's license sanctions upon conviction of the underlying felony charge.

These are the maximum charges available under the law based upon the evidence presented to date.

"Any loss of life is tragic, and this case is a heartbreaking reminder of the responsibility we all have when we are involved in a traffic crash. Drivers are required to stop, remain at the scene, and take the necessary steps to help those involved. I extend my condolences to the family of the woman who lost her life in the collision," stated Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.

Judge Boedeker set Nahhat's bond at $100,000 cash/surety with a ten percent option. If Nahhat posts bond, he must wear a GPS tether. He must surrender his driver's license and was ordered to not consume any alcohol or drugs.

Nahhat is scheduled to appear before Judge Boedeker at the 39th District Court for a Probable Cause Conference on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, and a Preliminary Exam on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, both at 8:30 a.m.
