TSA officers at Tampa International extremely thankful for bonus from DHS Secretary Noem

TAMPA, Fla. - Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers at Tampa International Airport (TPA) are deeply thankful after receiving $10,000 bonus checks from U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem during a visit to TPA. Secretary Noem distributed the special bonuses to officers for their dedication to continue carrying out TSA's mission and protecting American travelers during the 43-day federal government shutdown.

"President Trump and I are giving a $10,000 bonus to exemplary TSA officers across our nation who went above and beyond their performance," said Secretary Noem. "Americans can be proud of TSA workers across the country who continued to serve with excellence throughout the shutdown and who went to great lengths to protect our country. Thank you to the men and women of TSA!"

Keishliany Madrid Medina was one of the TSA officers at TPA who earned the bonus.

"I felt truly honored and thrilled to receive the $10,000 award from Secretary Noem," said Madrid Medina. "I swore an oath to protect our nation's transportation systems and the safety of the traveling public. I take that oath to heart every single day and strive to be someone my team and the American people can count on."

Kirk Skinner, TSA federal security director for Tampa International Airport, expressed his deep appreciation to all his teams' officers who continued carrying out the agency's mission during the shutdown.

"I'm incredibly proud of our TSA officers at Tampa International Airport," said Skinner. "During the tough government shutdown, these officers showed remarkable dedication and professionalism to keep American travelers safe. It was a difficult time for everyone on the team, but their resilience in continuing TSA's critical mission was nothing short of inspiring."

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is paying for these bonuses using carryover funds from fiscal year 2025.
