Ibrahimović receives non-resident Ambassador of Ireland on farewell visit

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović received the non-resident Ambassador of Ireland to Montenegro Ragnar Almqvist on a farewell visit.

Ibrahimović thanked Ambassador Almqvist for his contribution to the development of friendly relations between Montenegro and Ireland during his tenure, emphasizing that there remains significant potential for further enhancement of bilateral ties through more intensive political dialogue and concrete cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

During the meeting, Ireland's consistent support for the European Union enlargement policy was reaffirmed. Ibrahimović expressed his gratitude, highlighting that such support is of great importance for Montenegro's continued reforms and progress towards full EU membership. Ambassador Almqvist underlined that Ireland strongly supports Montenegro's accession to the European Union and will be ready to provide all necessary assistance to further advance Montenegro's European path during Ireland's Presidency of the Council of the EU in the second half of 2026.

The interlocutors particularly emphasized the need to strengthen economic cooperation and attract foreign investment, noting that the establishment of a direct air route between Montenegro and Ireland would further enhance connectivity and promote the development of tourism and business relations.
