South Bay, Los Angeles County - With FIFA World Cup 26 approaching, Alert SouthBay, in coordination with the City of Inglewood Office of Emergency Management, will conduct a LIVE Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) test on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 1:00 PM. Pacific Time. This test is part of ongoing regional preparedness efforts supporting FIFA World Cup 26 events throughout the Los Angeles region.
The test alert will be sent to WEA-capable mobile devices across the South Bay region. Due to wireless carrier and device limitations, some individuals outside the intended test area may also receive the alert.
Participating cities include Carson, El Segundo, Gardena, Hawthorne, Hermosa Beach, Inglewood, Lawndale, Lomita, Manhattan Beach, Palos Verdes Estates, Rancho Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates, and Torrance.
Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEAs) are used nationwide to provide urgent public safety information during emergencies, including evacuation orders, shelter-in-place instructions, severe weather warnings, hazardous materials incidents, and other imminent threats.
Testing plays an important role in strengthening public warning systems and helping ensure emergency alerts can be delivered quickly, clearly, and effectively during real emergencies. The exercise also helps increase public awareness and familiarity with official emergency alerts before an actual incident occurs.
The test alert is expected to be delivered to WEA-capable mobile devices located within the targeted test area at the time of activation. WEA-capable devices may include smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches. Receipt of the alert may vary depending on device type, wireless carrier, software version, and location at the time of the test.
Depending on device settings and manufacturer configurations, phones may make a sound, vibrate, display the alert, or read the alert aloud, even if set to silent mode.
Important safety note: Individuals who use a hidden or secondary phone for domestic violence or other personal safety reasons are encouraged to power off those devices before the test to avoid unintentionally drawing attention to them.
No action is required from the public. This is only a TEST.
The Wireless Emergency Alert is expected to read similar to the following:
