Ascension St. Vincent Evansville names Dr. Mureena Turnquest Wells as the 2026 Physician of the Year

Ascension St. Vincent Evansville has selected maternal-fetal medicine specialist Dr. Mureena Turnquest Wells as its 2026 Physician of the Year, the hospital announced Tuesday.

The annual award recognizes medical staff members who demonstrate outstanding dedication to patient care, professional leadership, and peer support. Hospital officials selected Turnquest Wells following nominations from colleagues, who highlighted her empathetic approach to treating patients and her work supporting families navigating complex, high-risk pregnancies.

Nominators specifically pointed to her collaborative leadership style in both high-pressure clinical settings and day-to-day operations, noting her efforts to build a supportive environment for care teams across the hospital.
