Information: Anti-Camping Ordinance

October 22, 2026

The City of Norman is in the beginning stages of establishing an anti-camping ordinance. A presentation and discussion was had during the 10/20/26 City Council Special Meeting, which is available for viewing at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5NbNGjgQSc&t=5113s.

In an effort to ensure a universal policy/procedure is in place for the Norman Police and Norman Municipal Court - departments that may come into contact often with unhoused neighbors - that continues to prioritize resource-sharing for those in need, more work is being done on City staff's end to establish and comb through such details before bringing a fuller ordinance plan to City Council to consider. This item is expected to be revisited at a November 2026 City Council meeting.

As they become available, relevant updates to the community on this matter will continue to be shared at Normanok.gov.
