Board of County Commissioners Schedule for September 22 - 26

MONDAY, September 22
12:30 p.m. - Executive Session
Pursuant to Colorado Revised Statute § 24-6-402 (4), upon the affirmative vote of two-thirds of the quorum present, the La Plata County Board of County Commissioners will hold an executive session to discuss the following matters:

  1. For purposes of the Board receiving legal advice on specific legal questions pursuant to Colo. Rev. Stat. § 24-6-402(4)(b). Purpose: Colorado Local Budget Law requirements; authority and obligations of BoCC and other elected officials/public health on budget matters; legal requirements regarding IGA with the City of Durango for use of joint sales tax funds; questions regarding Bayfield's legal arguments related to Cinnamon Heights' project.
  2. Determining positions relative to matters that may be subject to negotiations; developing strategy for negotiations; and instructing negotiators pursuant to Colo. Rev. Stat. § 24-6-402(4)(e). Purpose: Budget discussions with the City of Durango related to use of joint sales tax funds.

TUESDAY, September 23
10:00 a.m. - Business Agenda Meeting
The Board will consider:

  1. Approval of County Cash Requirements September 5, 2025 through September 12, 2025.
  2. Approval of Employee Policy IV.6 Employee Discipline and Appeal Policy.
  3. Approval of a Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) Hazardous Waste Site Identification Form Generator Status.
  4. Approval of a letter of support for the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) Closed Landfill Remediation Grant Program.
  5. Approval of a letter of support for the Bureau of Reclamation Hess Lateral Improvement Project, WaterSMART.
  6. Approval of a letter of support for the City of Durango's application for a Forest Restoration and Wildfire Risk Mitigation Grant through the Colorado State Forest Service.
  7. Approval of a letter of support for Wildfire Adapted Partnership's application for a Forest Restoration and Wildfire Risk Mitigation grant through the Colorado State Forest Service.
  8. Approval of a letter to Gov. Polis, Senate President James Coleman and House Speaker Julie McCluskie regarding unfunded mandates imposed by the State Legislature on counties.
  9. Approval of a letter of support for La Plata Electric Association's application for a Forest Restoration and Wildfire Risk Mitigation grant through the Colorado State Forest Service.
  10. Approval of a letter of support for Upper Pine River Fire Protection District's application for a Forest Restoration and Wildfire Risk Mitigation Grant through the Colorado State Forest Service.
  11. Ratification of a letter of opposition for rescinding the Roadless Area Conservation Rule.
  12. Approval of Electronic Recording Technology Board (ERTB) grant application for an indexing project.
  13. Approval of the appointment of La Plata County's Commissioner delegate to the Legislative Committee for Colorado Counties, Inc. (CCI).
  14. Consideration of a gaming compact with the Southern Ute Indian Tribe.
