The Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology has recognized UHart's Bachelor of Science in Robotics Engineering program, making it the first of its kind in Connecticut to receive ABET accreditation, and only the second in New England.
"This prestigious recognition affirms the quality, rigor, and relevance of our curriculum, as well as our commitment to continuous improvement," said Hisham Alnajjar, dean of UHart's College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture. "This achievement would not have been possible without the hard work, dedication, and collaboration of our faculty, staff, students, alumni, industry partners, and institutional leadership."
ABET is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization that accredits college and university programs in applied science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology worldwide.
"Accreditation from ABET provides assurance that a program meets established quality standards," said Associate Professor Kiwon Sohn, the director of the robotics program. "This is often required for professional licensure and can enhance career opportunities and global mobility for graduates."
The robotics engineering program is the 13th at UHart to be ABET accredited. Two programs received the accreditation last year : the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering program in the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Aerospace Engineering program in CETA.
