Nepal: two Italian nationals dead. Others missing

Since Friday 31 October, contact has been lost with two Italian mountaineers, Alessandro Caputo and Stefano Farronato, who were climbing Panbari Peak in Nepal. Their death was confirmed this morning by the local authorities.

The two men head been caught in heavy snowfall at Camp 1 (5,000 metres above sea level).

Other compatriots are missing and searches are ongoing. The Consulate General in Calcutta, also through the Honorary Consulate General in Kathmandu, and in close collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is directly monitoring the situation in contact with local authorities and the families of the compatriots.
