The Bluff City Cemetery Walk will return Sept. 27-28 with outdoor theatrical performances that highlight the lives of notable Elgin residents from the past.
The walk, first held in 1987, is organized by volunteers and staff from the Elgin History Museum. Each year, hundreds of visitors gather at Bluff City Cemetery, 945 Bluff City Blvd., to experience a blend of theater, history and local storytelling. Actors portray former residents at their grave sites, sharing stories that connect audiences to the city's rich heritage.
In addition to entertainment, the event aims to raise awareness about the importance of preserving cemeteries and the history they hold. The museum and community volunteers have worked for decades to maintain Bluff City Cemetery as both a place of remembrance and a cultural landmark.
