Fiber is on many people's minds lately - and for good reason. It plays an important role in supporting digestive health and overall wellness. Scroll through social media and it's nearly impossible to miss the latest conversations around "fibermaxxing," the trend focused on increasing daily fiber intake.
Despite the growing buzz, there's still a significant fiber gap with only 6% of American adults on average meeting the recommended daily fiber intake1, even though experts advise consuming 25-34 grams per day.2
Always looking to meet consumers' evolving preferences, PepsiCo has launched two new snacks in the U.S.: Smartfood® FiberPop™ and SunChips® Fiber - designed to deliver easy, flavorful choices incorporating fiber.
Smartfood isn't holding back on flavor (or fiber) with Smartfood FiberPop, available in two flavors: Sweet & Salty and Toffee & Sea Salt Flavored Coated Popcorn. An excellent source of fiber, FiberPop delivers six grams of fiber (contains six grams of total fat per serving) and at least 10 grams of whole grains per serving and is made without artificial colors or flavors. Follow along as a honey-loving bear, known as "fiBEAR," sets out to add more fiber to his diet, starting with his new favorite snack …FiberPop.
Made with real black beans and whole grains, SunChips Fiber offers a good source of fiber. It contains three grams of fiber (six grams of total fat per one ounce serving) and 16 grams of whole grains per serving, in two flavors: Spicy Jalapeño and Southwestern Queso. SunChips Fiber is made without artificial flavors or colors but still has the wavy crunch fans know and love.
"We're at a pivotal moment as awareness of fiber's importance accelerates, much like the rise of protein. At PepsiCo, we're anticipating where consumers are headed," says Tara Glasgow, PepsiCo Chief Science Officer. "By introducing delicious, fiber containing snacks across our portfolio, we're helping shape a future of snacking."
In 2023, PepsiCo set a big goal: by 2030, it aims to deliver 145 billion portions of diverse ingredients like legumes, whole grains, plant-based proteins, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds each year across its global convenient foods portfolio.3 In 2024, 69 billion portions were delivered.4
Smartfood FiberPop and SunChips Fiber aim to build on that progress, giving consumers easy ways to get more fiber into their day, without overthinking it. It's all part of a bigger shift in PepsiCo's growing lineup of food and drinks made to help fans hit their daily fiber goals. Here are just a few more of the flavorful options from PepsiCo that include fiber that you'll want to add to your shopping cart.
