Leveraging Partnerships to Expand Access to Homeownership

Categories: First Time Buyer, Homeownership

At TSAHC, we know that expanding access to homeownership takes more than just solid programs. Collaboration plays a key role in both spreading awareness, and ensuring that our programs truly meet the needs of Texas home buyers.

Partnerships are fundamental to everything we do. We collaborate with nonprofits, industry leaders, and even existing clients in a variety of ways.

Partnering with Homeowners to Spread the Word about Down Payment Assistance

TSAHC recently partnered with three home buyers that used our down payment assistance programs, in order to share their story of how TSAHC's assistance helped them achieve their dreams of homeownership. With help from 1708 Media, a video production company based in Austin, their interviews were condensed into shorter 30-second videos (like the one linked below) to promote the benefits of down payment assistance to families and individuals looking to purchase a home.

Partnering with Homeownership Focused Collaboratives

TSAHC serves as a member of the Harris County Homeownership Collaborative, which works to expand homeownership opportunities in the Houston area, with a specific focus on households facing historical barriers to homeownership.

Participating in this Collaborative allows TSAHC to share important program updates with Collaborative members, improve and expand our marketing efforts in Texas' largest home buying market, and better inform our training and capacity building programs for housing counselors.

Partnering with Mortgage Industry Associations

And finally, TSAHC partners with industry associations including the Texas Mortgage Bankers Association (TMBA), in order to stay up to date on mortgage industry trends and priorities, while also providing a platform to better educate buyers about the homeownership process.

In 2024, we released two podcast episodes featuring TMBA representatives. They were invited to comment on the most pressing issues facing mortgage lenders, and also provide their predictions for the future of homeownership. Check out those episodes clicking on the links below.

Episode 36: Let's Talk About Title Insurance

Joniel LeVecque, TSAHC Senior Director of Single Family Programs, has also served on TMBA's Education and Endowment Committee, which monitors mortgage industry trends and provides education and professional development opportunities to TMBA members.
