DALLAS - Dallas ISD will host its annual State of the District address on Tuesday, May 6, highlighting the district's progress and accomplishments over the past year. Ahead of the event, media is invited to a b-roll opportunity at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 5, at Skyline High School as floral design students create the centerpieces that will decorate the venue.
From promise to purpose: Kimball senior honors grandfather's legacy
Growing up, Jabari T., a senior at Justin F. Kimball High School, promised his grandfather he would become a mechanical engineer and do something meaningful. Now, as he graduates with both a high school diploma and an associate degree, he's on his way to fulfilling that promise. Fueled by a love of machines and the support of a close-knit family, Jabari earned multiple scholarships and plans to attend Prairie View A&M University, honoring a legacy of perseverance, purpose, and the village that helped raise him.

Empowering students through library innovation
Drawing on two decades of experience in Dallas ISD, Lashonda Roberson spent the past three years as librarian at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center, guiding students toward college and career readiness. A former science teacher, she has transformed the library into a vibrant hub for research, independence, and community engagement. Her recent health and culture fair reached more than 500 students, highlighting empathy, wellness, and civic responsibility as essential tools for future success.
