DALLAS - October 13, 2026 - Every SMU Mustang, across every sport, will now compete with Texas Capital on their uniform.
Mustang Partners and Texas Capital today announced a jersey patch partnership spanning all 17 varsity programs, the first all-sports agreement of its kind for a Power Four athletics program in the state of Texas. The Texas Capital logo debuts on SMU competition uniforms this week, giving the Dallas-based company a year-round presence across SMU Athletics.
The agreement expands a recently announced relationship between Mustang Partners and Texas Capital, which made Texas Capital the first end-zone sponsor in the history of SMU Football and Gerald J. Ford Stadium. In a matter of weeks, two organizations with deep roots in Dallas have gone from the end zone to every uniform in the department.
"We're proud to have every Mustang student-athlete, on all 17 of our teams, wearing Texas Capital," said Damon Evans, SMU Director of Athletics. "This is a first for a Power Four program in Texas, and it tells you how much belief there is in where SMU is headed. Texas Capital shares our ambition and our commitment to Dallas, and this partnership strengthens every one of our programs and the student-athletes representing them."
"As the only full-service financial services firm founded and headquartered in Texas, we have built our business to support the institutions, companies, communities and changemakers driving our state forward," said Rob C. Holmes, Chairman, President & CEO of Texas Capital. "We are proud to expand our partnership with SMU, a best-in-class university that shares our values, ambition, and confidence in the future of our region and beyond."
"Today is another example of the commitment the SMU Family and the city of Dallas continue to show SMU Athletics," said SMU Football Head Coach Rhett Lashlee. "What Texas Capital and CEO Rob Holmes have done demonstrates their belief in the Mustangs. We are humbled by their support and excited to wear their logo on our game uniforms."
"This is a great opportunity for SMU Athletics and a testament to the momentum we're building across all 17 of our programs," said SMU Volleyball Head Coach Sam Erger. "There's a lot of excitement around our future, and we're proud to have Texas Capital be part of that journey."
The partnership was secured in collaboration with SMU Athletics and Learfield, the leading media and technology company powering college athletics.
"This partnership reflects the growing strength of the SMU brand, while uniquely connecting Texas Capital with Mustangs from coast to coast," said Cole Gahagan, President & CEO of Learfield. "Delivering the Texas Capital patch to SMU Athletics jerseys across all sports elevates reach and fan engagement in the most powerful way. As with all that we do together, we're thrilled to partner with Damon and his team to provide our brands with exceptional opportunities, and drive meaningful revenue growth for the university."
