Today (1.20), 6x New York Times best-selling author, 2x national champion, Heisman Trophy winner, speaker, author, entrepreneur and College Football Hall of Fame inductee Tim Tebow announces his new book, If the Tree Could Speak, releasing on February 24 via Thomas Nelson Gift/HarperCollins Christian Publishing.
In the beautifully illustrated gift book, Tebow recounts the story of Jesus' crucifixion from an untold perspective: the wooden cross. Relayed through the voice of the tree, the book shares the unimaginable journey of the cross from an innocent plant to the brutal instrument of execution. "If the Tree Could Speak" invites readers to see the crucifixion in a new way; not an ordinary symbol displayed in jewelry or artwork, but a representation of the most important event in human history.
The book is inspired by a sermon Tebow heard on Luke 19:40, in which Jesus was told by religious leaders to silence the disciples for praising Him. Jesus responded saying, "if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out." The passage sparked Tebow to think about how other objects would respond to the testimony of Jesus Christ, specifically the cross. This creative interpretation is for those who know the story of Jesus, but need to feel the weight, cost and wonder of Christ's biggest sacrifice again.
Through vivid illustrations created by Rommel Ruiz and the heart-wrenching words of Tebow, the book cuts through the modern familiarity of the cross, revealing the true brutality of the cross' purpose, the undeserved grace from Jesus, and the ultimate reasoning of Jesus' death and Resurrection - a story that changes everything if we truly grasp it.
"My hope is that, through this imaginative retelling, readers will be inspired to see Jesus with new eyes," Tebow writes, "And more than that, I pray that readers will think about not just what happened on the cross … but who it happened to."
Tebow's written work connects to his main mission of bringing Faith, Hope and Love to those needing a brighter day through the Tim Tebow Foundation. Since 2010, the Tim Tebow Foundation has served marginalized communities in 115+ countries, through work focused on Anti-Human Trafficking & Child Exploitation, Orphan Care + Prevention, Profound Medical Needs, and Special Needs Ministry.
