Join CSPD and Scheels this Saturday for the sixth annual Balltoberfest!

The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) will join forces with SCHEELS to host the sixth annual BALLTOBERFEST, on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Colorado Springs Scheels located at 1226 Interquest Parkway, just off I-25 and Interquest.

Stop by right at 10:00 a.m. for an extra special donation as CSPD's very own Chief Vasquez and other surprise guests will be dropping off the ceremonial first ball for PlayCOS!

Community Members can make a difference by donating a new sports ball to support CSPD's PlayCOS program. Through donations, patrol divisions are supplied with sports balls (e.g. footballs, soccer balls, basketballs) for officers to keep in their cruisers to give out to kids and teens during their shifts. The whole community is invited for a fun family day with Touch-a-Truck with law enforcement, 20% off sports balls at SCHEELS, vehicles, games, food vendors, and more. About the PlayCOS Program:
CSPD is committed to creating more positive interactions with community members across the city, and PlayCOS is one way we're doing that. The program creates simple, organic, and fun opportunities for officers and community members to connect in a positive, lighthearted way.

PlayCOS also includes sports and giveaway events that bring officers together with young community members through recreation, with the goal of becoming a sustained part of CSPD's department-wide community outreach efforts.

Since launching in January 2021, PlayCOS has helped CSPD officers distribute more than 11,300 sports balls to local children and teens. There have been over 200+ PlayCOS events and donations made to 3 community centers and 42 local schools. PlayCOS has created more than 60,000 positive police/community interactions since its inception. This initiative has also received widespread recognition, with CSPD winning the 2022 International Association of Chiefs of Police Leadership in Community Policing Award. This award recognizes promising practices that utilize effective and long-lasting partnerships to make local, national, and international communities safer.
