City of Bettendorf to Host Public Workshop on Future of I-80/Middle Road Area

October 23, 2026 - The City of Bettendorf and its planning consultant, IMEG, invite residents, business owners, property owners, and other interested community members to help shape the future of the I-80/Middle Road area at a public workshop on Thursday, November 5, 2026, from 6-8 p.m. at Iron Tee, 6909 Iron Tee Way, Bettendorf. Doors will open at 5 p.m., allowing early arrivals to meet and speak one-on-one with the planning team and the workshop will begin at 6 p.m. with a presentation.

The workshop is part of a recently launched master planning process for the area north of Interstate 80 near Middle Road. The City's Comprehensive Plan identifies this area as an important opportunity for future growth, envisioning a mix of residential, commercial, employment, and open space uses. Recent investments in sanitary sewer infrastructure will help support future development in the area.

Building on these efforts, the City is developing a master plan to establish a coordinated vision for future land use, transportation, infrastructure, and development. The plan will explore opportunities to create a vibrant, connected, and sustainable area that accommodates future growth while reflecting community priorities and long-term needs.

Community participation will play an important role in shaping the master plan. The November 5 workshop will provide an opportunity for participants to learn about the planning process, share their ideas and priorities, and help establish a vision and goals for the future of the I-80/Middle Road area.

In addition to the workshop, the City has launched an online community survey to gather input on the area's future. The survey will remain open through the end of 2026, and all interested individuals are encouraged to participate, whether or not they attend the workshop.

The master planning process will continue into 2027, with community input helping to guide the preparation of the plan and its recommendations for future development, infrastructure, and public improvements.
