The Alger Family Club Room inside Gesa Field was filled with Cougar faithful Tuesday afternoon for the introductory press conference of Kirby Moore, Washington State University Football's new head football coach.
"It feels great to be home," Moore said to kick off his opening remarks, adding that the opportunity to become WSU football's 36th head coach was a tremendous one for a kid from Eastern Washington. Moore grew up in Prosser and is the son of Tom Moore, a renowned football coach at Prosser High School. Moore's older brother, Kellen Moore, is the head coach of the New Orleans Saints.
In his remarks, Moore talked about incredible opportunity for WSU to lead the rebuild of the new Pac-12next season, as well as the importance of fostering a culture where student-athletes cultivate a vision for themselves that extends beyond their time on the field. He described his vision for WSU football as exciting and attacking, with a potent aerial offensive and a stout defense capable of confusing and containing opposing quarterbacks.
Interim Athletics Director Jon Haarlow said Moore fulfilled the requirements being sought in the next head of WSU football: a coach who wins with talent and strategy that has expertise with vital components of the modern game like Name, Image, and Likeness as well as the transfer portal.
