AUC Chairperson received Amb Mohamed Idriss, his Special Envoy for Madagascar

The Chairperson of the AU Commission, H.E. @ymahmoudali received @AmbMedIdriss , his Special Envoy for #Madagascar.

Amb. Idris briefed the Chairperson on progress on the situation in Madagascar to date, noting the commitment of the authorities in Antananarivo to remain on track towards an inclusive, credible political dialogue, with broad consultations ongoing.

He further reported encouraging economic indicators over the past three months & proposed the establishment of an inter-institutional contact group on Madagascar.

The Chairperson welcomed the briefing, reaffirming the AU's principled approach to political transitions: respect for a Madagascan-led solution, with the AU accompanying the country through preventive diplomacy & mediation towards a return to full constitutional order, while advocating for sustained engagement by development partners to support economic stability & development.
