City Property Taxes now due Feb. 28, 2026, with interest incurred after the new date

Chief Finance Officer and City Treasurer Erin Tucker reminds Murfreesboro property owners to pay their 2025 property taxes on time to avoid interest charges. Due to a change in the City code, City property taxes are now due:Feb. 28, 2026.

Payment can be made on or before Feb. 28, 2026, without incurring interest charges. The interest charges for late payment begins accruing March 1, 2026, at the rate of 1 and ½ percent per month, or any portion of a month, applied to the base tax until they are paid.

Property tax bills were mailed September 22, 2025, and are available for online payment beginning Oct. 1, 2025. Watch the informational video https://youtu.be/VB2N0rUk7Zs.

Important Dates & Payment Info

  • Payment window: Oct. 1, 2025-Feb. 28, 2026
  • Interest Begins: March 1, 2026
  • Interest Rate: 1.5% per month (or portion thereof) on unpaid base tax

Payments can be made by cash, check, or credit card. Bank counter checks and two-party checks are not accepted.

An Online Payment Portal is available online at www.murfreesborotntax.com to access tax information for the City of Murfreesboro and to:

  • Pay online via Pay Pal®, MasterCard, American Express or Discover, or e-check
  • Print your tax bill or paid receipt
  • View property tax information

A Convenience Fee is added for credit/debit card transactions of the charged amount that will be added to your payment and paid directly to the credit card service provider.

  • Credit/Debit: ~2.50% + $0.30
  • E-check: $1.50 flat fee

  • In-Person: City Hall, 1st Floor Finance Department, 111 West Vine St.
    • Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Tax Relief Programs:

Partial payments are accepted. The City participates in the State of Tennessee Tax Freeze and Property Tax Relief programs for:

  • Low-income seniors (65+)
  • Disabled veterans who qualify
