Rep. Robb Blasdel Highlights Highway Safety Improvement Program Awardee in Columbiana County

State Representative Monica Robb Blasdel (R-New Waterford) today announced that Columbiana County was awarded funding through the Ohio Department of Transportation's Highway Safety Improvement Program.

"As a member of the House Transportation Committee, I am proud to support strategic investments that make our roads safer and more accessible for Ohio families," said Rep. Robb Blasdel. "The State Route 39 project in Columbiana County is a strong example of how targeted infrastructure improvements-such as reconstructed roadways, upgraded sidewalks and pedestrian crossings, improved lighting, and a new roundabout at Parkway and Boyce-can significantly enhance safety and mobility for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists alike. This investment will help position East Liverpool for continued growth while ensuring residents can travel more safely throughout the community."

In House Bill 54 - Ohio's Transportation Budget, the General Assembly appropriated $185 million in funding each year for continued success of the program.

Roadway safety improvements funded through this round of the grant program will include roundabouts, turn lanes, intersection upgrades, more visible signs and pavement markings, and high-visibility crosswalks, sidewalks, and bike lanes.

The $1.9 million project is part of a larger $37 million federal grant effort focused on improving safety and mobility throughout the region.
