Governor Offers Reward for Information on Cabarrus County Murder

Today Governor Josh Stein announced that the state of North Carolina is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Khari Ikeem Shytez Wilkes, age 28.

"We must use every tool at our disposal to pursue justice for victims," said Governor Josh Stein. "I urge North Carolinians who have information about these cases to contact local law enforcement and help us provide closure to victims' families."

On January 6, 2025, officers responded to a call regarding a male suffering from a gunshot wound on Pine Hill Lane in Kannapolis. Later that evening, Wilkes died from his injuries. At the time of the shooting, Wilkes was in his vehicle, a white 2021 Dodge Challenger, when he was approached from the rear by two assailants.
