Pasadena Water and Power Announces Winners of Art Contest and Academic Scholarships

PASADENA, Calif.- Pasadena Water and Power (PWP) is proud to announce the winners of the 2026 "Being Water Wise Is…" Art Contest. Held every year in partnership with Metropolitan Water District (MWD), the "Being Water Wise Is…" Art Contest is open to Pasadena students in grades K-12. Student artists submitted creative artwork with messaging that encourages the community to conserve and use water more wisely.

Isabella B., 5th Grade, is the first-place winner for her artwork, "Water is a Necessity," and Jonpatrick (Jordan) S., 3rd Grade, is the second-place winner for his piece, "Water is Part of Nature." Both students attend Pasadena Unified School District's Daniel Webster Elementary School.

PWP is also proud to announce the winners of the 2026 scholarship contest. These scholarships reflect PWP's ongoing commitment to supporting local students pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). As part of this year's application process, students submitted a video responding to a prompt about how their passion for a STEM-related field contributes to the utility industry, public service, or sustainability initiatives, and how the scholarship will support their future career goals.

Adrianna Bäumle of Blair High School is the 2026 first-place winner. Her submission highlighted her enthusiasm for pursuing mechanical engineering and her intention to apply her problem-solving skills to address climate change. Mildred Gonzalez of John Muir High School Early College Magnet is the second-place winner. She plans to study Business Economics and Finance and is passionate about integrating environmental sustainability and ethics into STEM-focused business leadership.

PWP also offers scholarships for Pasadena students who plan to attend a vocational or technical school or community college with a focus on skilled utility trades for the 2026-2027 academic year. The deadline for the utility trades scholarship is Thursday, December 31, 2026.
