When Andrea Megargell '03 walked back onto Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg's campus for the recent Career Connections Expo, it felt like a full-circle moment. Now serving as Recruiting Manager for BAYADA Home Health Care, Megargell uses her role to connect with students and share BAYADA's mission to help people with diverse needs live safely at home and school.

"Commonwealth University, Bloomsburg is known for its quality nursing program," she said. "We value not only hiring quality nurses from this campus, but also spreading knowledge about the value of home health."

For Megargell, attending campus events is both professional and personal, especially when she is able to guide a student in a direction they hadn't yet considered. It was the nature of her Exercise Science major that forced her out of her comfort zone and experience different work environments. In fact, an undergraduate internship led her to pursuing her master's degree and gave her a clearer direction for her career path. Her impressions of Bloomsburg students at her last campus visit confirmed what she already knew.

"They had a genuine interest in exploring career options," she shared. "Most nursing students seemed to think they needed to start in a hospital or nursing home setting. Many weren't familiar with home care, so it was a great opportunity for them to ask questions and see new possibilities."

Not only does recruiting on campus help employers find the best talent, but it is also an opportunity to guide and influence the next generation of professionals. Megargell encourages other alumni and employers to consider the value of connecting with current students.

"I always view these events as opportunities to 'plant seeds.' she said. "BAYADA may not be the right fit for a student right now, but down the line, when they need a change in pace or setting, they may remember our conversation. It's an honor to come back and support the next generation of healthcare professionals."
