Defence Secretary Meets Fireworks Manufacturers

Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) convened a meeting with representatives of the fireworks manufacturing industry at the Ministry of Defence today (Sep 24).

During the discussion, industry stakeholders outlined the operational and regulatory challenges currently faced by the sector. The Defence Secretary attentively considered their concerns and directed relevant officials to review the issues raised and recommend suitable measures to address them.

The meeting was also attended by Additional Secretary of Civil Security and Development, Mrs. Indika Wijegunawardana, senior officials of the Ministry of Trade, Chairman of State Trading Coperation (STC) Ravindra Fernando and leading industry representatives.
