Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream voluntarily recalls select Outshine Fruit Bars due to possible foreign matter contamination

Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream, Inc. is initiating a voluntary recall of a limited number of select flavors of Outshine Fruit Bars due to possible foreign material contamination with glass, according to a Department of Defense All Food and Drug Activity message sent Aug. 20. Dreyer's is taking this action out of an abundance of caution following consumer reports of glass found in the product.

Products affected include Outshine Strawberry, Watermelon, Grape, Tangerine and Black Cherry 6-Count 2.5 ounce Fruit Bars and the Outshine Variety 24-Count 2.5 ounce Fruit Bars.

The Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Richard Stith, chief, public health division, DeCA Headquarters and Support Center at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has recalled or withdrawn products in its inventory, the products are immediately removed from store shelves.
