President of Parliament Mihaela Dotsova and members of parliament attended the ceremonial lighting ceremony in Plovdiv, which marked the 141st anniversary of the Unification of Bulgaria. They honored the memory of the ancestors who made the historic event happen and laid flowers and wreaths at the Monument of Reunification.
On the occasion of the holiday earlier in the day, the President of the National Assembly stated that on September 6, 1885, the Bulgarian people were united, acting without hesitation and proving that the national cause of unification stands above all else. Unification is that memorable example of a powerful defense of the national interest, which will always inspire optimism for a worthy future, Mihaela Dotsova pointed out. May the spirit of this moment full of hope and lessons inspire us to seek a common direction, because unity is the true key to success, she noted. Let us work together for Bulgaria, the President of Parliament urged.
The celebrations were attended by President Iliyana Yotova, who delivered a solemn speech, Prime Minister Rumen Radev, ministers, clergymen, and many citizens.
