May 22, 2026 Governor Patrick Morrisey Orders Flags Lowered to Honor Memorial Day ...

Charleston, W.Va. - Today, Governor Patrick Morrisey issued a proclamation ordering flags at all state facilities to be flown at half-staff on Monday, May 25, 2026, in observance of Memorial Day.

"Our nation's fallen heroes answered the call to defend our freedom, making the ultimate sacrifice so that we may live in peace and liberty," said Governor Morrisey. "We can never fully repay the debt we owe to the Americans who laid down their lives defending this country and the cause of freedom. Memorial Day stands a solemn reminder that every liberty we enjoy was secured by the courage and sacrifice of men and women willing to give everything for the United States of America.

"As we gather with family and friends, we should pause to honor our fallen heroes, pray for the loved ones they left behind, and recommit ourselves to being worthy of their sacrifice. West Virginia will always remember their valor and service to this great nation."

On May 25, 2026, West Virginians are encouraged to join all Americans in honoring the fallen, reflecting on the profound cost of our freedoms, and expressing gratitude to the military families who have given so much for our state and nation.
