The President of Estonia to pay a state visit to Lithuania

At the invitation of President Gitanas Nausėda, the President of Estonia, Alar Karis, and First Lady Sirje Karis will pay a state visit to Lithuania on April 15-16. This is the first state-level visit by an Estonian leader to Lithuania in more than a decade.

The visit will begin with a meeting between the Presidents of Lithuania and Estonia. A joint declaration will be signed, and the two leaders will hold a press conference, open the Lithuania-Estonia Business Forum, visit the Lithuanian State Modern Archives, and in the evening a state dinner will be hosted at the Presidential Palace in honor of the President of Estonia and the First Lady.

On the second day of the visit, the Estonian President will attend a ceremonial conferral of an honorary doctorate at Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas, and a memorial plaque will be unveiled at the site of the former Estonian Embassy. A helicopter flight is also planned to inspect the progress of the Rail Baltica construction, followed by a visit to Rukla, where the Presidents will be briefed on the development of the Lithuanian National Division and the deployment of the German brigade in Lithuania.

The Lithuanian and Estonian leaders will discuss bilateral relations, regional security and defense, transatlantic cooperation, support for Ukraine, energy and infrastructure projects, as well as economic and cultural cooperation.

The First Ladies of Lithuania and Estonia will have a separate program during the visit. On Wednesday at 11:30 a.m., Mrs. Diana Nausėdienė and Mrs. Sirje Karis will take part in a discussion on children's mental health at the Ukrainian Center in Vilnius. At 1:10 p.m., they will visit the exhibition "Lithuania's Path to Energy Independence" at the Center for Civic Education. On Thursday at 12:30 p.m., the First Ladies will visit the Kaunas STEAM Methodological Center "Mokslo Sala," and at 2:20 p.m. the Neonatology Department at Kaunas Clinics.
