BUFFALO, N.Y. - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Buffalo, N.Y., port of entry seized nearly 350,000 batteries March 26 at the Peace Bridge warehouse that did not comply with child protective packaging standards.

Noncompliant batteries seized at the Port of Buffalo, New York.CBP officers submitted a sample of the batteries to investigators at the Consumer Product Safety Commission. "Working closely with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, our officers took decisive action to prevent these hazardous items from entering the U.S. marketplace."
CPSC investigators recommended that CBP seize the noncompliant batteries. CBP officers seized the batteries on March 26 and assessed the value of this shipment of batteries at about $100,000.
