BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -Congressman Vince Fong (CA-20) hosted more than 150 local high students at our district's first-ever Skilled Trades Fair at the Associated Builders and Contractors in Bakersfield.
On Saturday, Congressman Fong welcomed high school students and local small businesses for an interactive event highlighting in-demand career paths ranging from carpentry to electrical work to advanced manufacturing. The Skilled Trades Fair showcased opportunities that connect classroom learning with real-world skills and well-paying jobs.
"Our local students have tremendous opportunities to pursue different career paths, especially in skilled trades," said Congressman Fong. "I was honored to showcase these in-demand jobs that provide strong salaries and a high quality of life. As a community, we must ensure our students are exposed to the possibilities that exist beyond the classroom as we work to build a stronger workforce pipeline and grow our regional economy."
Congressman Fong's Skilled Trades Fair brought together educators, employers, and community leaders to highlight the importance of strengthening the workforce pipeline while inspiring the next generation of talent in California's 20th District.
