USDA Rural Development Announces Nearly $600,000 in Housing Preservation Grant Funds for 55 Households in North Carolina

(Raleigh, N.C., October 21, 2026) - U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Director of State Operations Robert Hosford announced the North Carolina state office will receive Housing Preservation Grant (HPG) funds totaling $600,000 for eight projects in rural North Carolina to fund home repairs and housing rehabilitation for very-low- and low-income rural residents.

"President Trump and Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins understand that strong rural communities begin with safe, affordable housing," said Director of State Operations Hosford. "These investments will help 55 North Carolina households make critical home repairs, improve living conditions, and preserve the homes they depend on. Through the Housing Preservation Grant Program, USDA Rural Development is helping hardworking rural families, seniors, and residents with limited incomes remain safely in their homes while strengthening the communities they call home. This is another example of the Trump Administration's commitment to putting rural America first."

Nationwide, Rural Development is obligating nearly $8 million through 106 grants across 32 states to fund home repairs and housing rehabilitation for very low- and low-income rural residents. The grants will repair an estimated 1,228 housing units across rural America, with grantees leveraging an additional $7,552,804 in partner funding.

USDA Rural Development administers this funding through the HPG program, which provides grants to qualified non-profit organizations that, in turn, assist very low- and low-income homeowners with needed home repairs and help rehabilitate eligible rental properties in rural areas.
