Grant Some PhD, Memorial Lecture July 23, 2026

Save the date! The Grant W. Somes, PhD Memorial Lecture will be held on Thursday, July 23, at 12:00 pm, in Freeman Auditorium, 930 Madison, Third Floor. Lunch will be served for those who have registered, starting at 11:30 am. More information about how to register for the lecture will be forthcoming.

Please join us as we honor the memory of Dr. Grant Somes, former chair of the Department of Preventive Medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences, who tragically died in March 2010. We are reaching out to former and current faculty and staff members, graduate students, colleagues, and friends who knew Grant or have benefitted from his legacy.

We are excited that Regan F. Williams, MD, MS, has agreed to speak for this memorial. Dr. Williams is a professor of surgery and pediatrics at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences and serves as the trauma medical director at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital.

This fund will annually support a Master of Epidemiology student to be used for scholarships, conference registrations, travel stipends, etc.
