Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Kong Xianhua Attends the Groundbreaking Ceremony for Development of 1,190 Housing Units in Hulhumalé

On March 30, Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives H.E. Mr. Kong Xianhua attended the groundbreaking ceremony for development of 1,190 housing units in Hulhumalé. Also present were Maldivian President Dr. Muizzu, Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Muththalib, Special Envoy of the Chairman of the Beijing Urban Construction Group (BUCG) Mr. Zhang Xiaoxuan and Counselor Zhang Xu of Chinese Embassy.

The project is located in Hulhumale Phase 2, owned by the Maldives Bank and constructed by Beijing Construction Engineering Group(BUCG). It is expected to be completed in 2028. As part of a government-subsidized housing program, this project will provide modern and affordable housing for the Maldivian people, effectively alleviating the country's growing housing pressure and contributing to further deepening practical cooperation between China and the Maldives and promoting the building of a China-Maldives community with a shared future.
