City of Annapolis Announces Walktober 2025 Events

Annapolis, MD (October 1, 2025) - The City of Annapolis and the Annapolis Department of Transportation's Bike, Pedestrian, and Micromobility Program is proud to join the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) and communities across the state in celebrating Walktober 2025 . Throughout the month of October, residents and visitors are encouraged to enjoy the benefits of walking for health, safety, accessibility, and community connection.

Walktober features engaging events designed to highlight walking as a safe, accessible, and fun way to get around Annapolis and beyond.

Walkinar Series (hosted by MDOT)

Free, virtual, one-hour webinars (or, as we like to call them "walkinars") every Thursday in October, starting at noon. Throughout the month of October, join us for a variety of walk-related topics.   • October 2: National and Local Impact: Walking, Health, and Communities

  • October 9: Safety: Designing Walkable Communities for All

  • October 16: Accessibility: How Transportation Trails Improve Community Access

  • October 23: Education: Teaching Walking Safety from a Young Age

  • October 30: Agency: Walking Across Maryland with the State Secretaries Roundtable

Walk & Roll to School Days

Students and families are invited to join the fun and celebrate walking and biking to school!
Each school will host a Walk, Bike & Roll Day - a chance to lace up your sneakers, hop on your bike, or roll in on wheels of your choice. These events bring families and communities together to enjoy being active, while also shining a spotlight on making our routes to school safer for everyone.

  • October 8: Germantown Elementary

  • October 10: Eastport Elementary

  • October 15: Annapolis Middle School

Walk Annapolis Events

Explore local trails and scenic routes with community-led walks.There will be walk-related events and educational opportunities across the state throughout the month of October, as Maryland celebrates "Walktober!" Be sure to check this site often, as registered walks, events, and programs will be added throughout the month. All Walks begin at 5:15 PM .

  • October 13: Spa Creek Loop - Walkers meet at Veteran's Memorial Park

  • October 15: Senior Walk - Walkers meet at Annapolis Senior Center

  • October 19: Ellen Moyer Park / Carr's Beach Walk - Walkers meet at Ellen Moyer Park

  • October 22: Poplar Trail Walk - Walkers meet at Graduate Hotel Lobby

"Walking is one of the simplest and most powerful ways we can connect with our city and with each other," said Annapolis Mayor Gavin Buckley. "Walktober is a chance for us to celebrate healthy, safe, and accessible mobility for all residents of Annapolis."
