Crime Map and Updates

Welcome to our crime map. You can search by address, date range, case number, or specific crime type. The map includes serious felony crimes, vehicle prowls, thefts (except shoplifting), and arrests beginning in Nov. 2020. Click on icons for more detail. Addresses listed are rounded to the hundred block. For a complete list of case reports, visit olympiawa.gov/p2c.

Notable Trends

  • Officers arrested a suspect for residential burglary and arson. The suspect returned to an Air BNB he'd stayed at, tore down the doorbell camera and broke into the house. He sprayed an unknown white substance all over the house and microwaved an aerosol bug spray can which burnt the microwave and could have spread. He was in the home when officers arrived.
  • One aggravated assault reported. The suspect was also charged with unlawful imprisonment and interfering with reporting of a crime. He refused to let the victim leave the home for multiple days after she tried breaking up with him. He strangled her and threw her around. He took her phone when she attempted to call 911. She eventually called police when he allowed her to go to an appointment.
  • One rape reported that was referred to the prosecutor. The victim knows the suspect.
  • Three bikes were stolen this week, two of them e-bikes. One of them had the battery removed and was locked to a sign pole. When the victim returned to move it inside, the suspect had unscrewed the sign from the sidewalk and stolen the bike and lock. In another case, charges were referred to the prosecutor after a suspect was caught on camera stealing a bike. The suspect sold it to someone who returned it when they found out it was stolen.
  • Four auto thefts with two recovered. A 1999 Dodge Caravan was stolen by a friend of a neighbor who worked on the car. A 2008 Ford F650 was recovered by Auburn PD after it was located with a tracker installed on the work vehicle. A 1991 Honda Accord was recovered by Pierce County Sheriff's Office, and a 1997 Honda CRV was stolen and is still outstanding.

Other Items

  • Officers responded to 938 calls for service.
  • Detectives from Olympia and Lacey PD arrested the residential burglary suspect that we put out a Safety Alert for in September. He was arrested for residential burglary with sexual motivation, voyeurism, stalking and attempted residential burglary. Great job to everyone involved and thank you to the community members that shared security footage.
  • Reminder that our Costume with a Cop is tonight, Friday, 10/24 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Starbucks on the corner of College & Pacific in Lacey. Hope to see you there!
  • This week's photo is from a Trunk or Treat last year.
