Tegucigalpa, September 29, 2025-In line with its commitment to sustainability and energy transition, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) made the first disbursement of the CAMBio II program in Honduras, in the amount of US$498,942.68. The financing, channeled through the Covelo Foundation, will enable the installation of a grid-connected photovoltaic solar system at the beneficiary MSME, which operates in the sustainable forestry sector.
The project will enable the company to implement resilient management measures to generate clean energy for its operations, reduce energy costs, and strengthen its production, incorporating sustainable practices that contribute to environmental protection.
"This disbursement represents a concrete step toward a more efficient and sustainable economy. Through CAMBio II, we are supporting MSMEs in adopting clean technologies and innovative practices, strengthening their competitiveness and resilience in the face of climate change," said Gisela Sánchez, Executive President of CABEI.
The initiative is part of a regional effort, in partnership with the Green Climate Fund (GCF), which seeks to support micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises in their transition to sustainable production models through access to green credit and non-refundable technical assistance.
CAMBio II envisages interventions in strategic sectors such as sustainable energy, agribusiness, sustainable tourism, forest management, and responsible fishing, promoting environmental resilience and economic development in member countries.
