Washington (May 18, 2026) - Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.), member of the Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, and Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) released the following statement after Massachusetts cities and towns received more than $47 million in grant funding from the Airport Improvement Program (AIP) and the Airport Infrastructure Grant (AIG) program. The AIP airport grant program funds airport infrastructure projects such as runways, taxiways, airport signage, airport lighting, and airport markings and will strengthen airport infrastructure across Massachusetts. The AIG program, which was created in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, provides additional federal support for airport infrastructure projects.
"We fought hard to ensure the FAA Reauthorization Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law included robust funding for airport infrastructure investments," said Senators Markey and Warren. "Now, this funding is at work in communities across Massachusetts. From the Pittsfield Municipal Airport to Boston-Logan, this funding will make our airports more resilient, safe, and modern."
