Over $5 Million in Stolen Merchandise Sold Online and at Local Storefronts
LOS ANGELES, Calif. - A Montebello man has been charged with selling millions of dollars' worth of goods stolen from a train this summer.
"Cargo theft is not a victimless crime. The stolen merchandise enters our commerce and affects real businesses and real employees," said Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman. "Thefts from our ports also erode the reputation of our world class port in Los Angeles."
Dojoon Park (dob 4/29/83) was charged yesterday in case 25CJCF05790 with six felony counts of receipt of stolen property worth over $950 and allegations of losses of over $500,000.
He pleaded not guilty at arraignment and is scheduled to return on Sept. 19 in Department 41 of the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center. Park was remanded into custody and bail was set at $225,000 with a hold in place until the next hearing to ensure that the source of the bail is not tied to any criminal operation.
In July 2025, Union Pacific special agents discovered a train car full of consumer goods had been burglarized in Long Beach. An investigation led authorities to more than $5 million in stolen items such as tools, household appliances and e-bikes being sold online and at the defendant's DJ General Tool and Wire stores in Montebello and Huntington Park.
If convicted as charged, Park faces a maximum sentence of 11 years in state prison.
The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department's Cargo Theft Task Force and Union Pacific.
The charges filed in this case are allegations. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
