The Quad Cities International Airport has promoted Joseph Goetz, A.A.E., A.C.E., to the newly created position of chief operating officer, effective Nov. 1, 2026. The position is part of an organizational restructuring designed to strengthen coordination across departments, support airport operations and position the airport for continued growth.
"As our airport continues to evolve, it's important that our organizational structure evolves with it," said Benjamin Leischner, A.A.E., chief executive officer of the Quad Cities International Airport. "Joe has been instrumental in strengthening our operations and helping move major initiatives like Project GATEWAY forward. His experience and leadership will help us improve coordination across departments, better support our employees and continue delivering a safe, efficient and convenient travel experience for our region."
Goetz joined the airport in March 2020 as airport operations manager and was instrumental in establishing the airport's operations department.
In his expanded role, Goetz will oversee airport operations, airfield maintenance, facilities maintenance, information technology and the airport's LLC. He will also serve on the airport's executive leadership team.
Before joining the Quad Cities International Airport, Goetz held positions at Crater Lake-Klamath Regional Airport, Bellingham International Airport, Grand Forks Regional Airport Authority and Greater Rockford Airport Authority. He earned a bachelor's degree in airport management from the University of North Dakota and is an accredited airport executive through the American Association of Airport Executives.
The organizational changes come as the airport continues its long-term investments in infrastructure, facilities and the passenger experience, including the ongoing Project GATEWAY terminal modernization program.
